Dallas Cowboy's Stadium
 |
The Project Scope
Finish out structure, waterproof and install stone and finishes on water wall features.
The Cowboys Stadium consisted of two fountains. The smaller one
called the VIP Fountain was located at the drop off site near the
stadium. This fountain was about 30 feet long and approx. four feet
high. It was a black granite feature with a center lighted basin
showing a single 18” high water wall fountain. The water cascaded
down the granite wall into a receiving basin below. The second, or
larger of the fountains, is located at the main entrance to the stadium.
It consists of an 85 foot long curved water wall cascading down both
sides of a vertical stone seeded wall. It also has a center basin fed by
numerous returns below diffuser plates. These plates reduce the
turbulence so that the water makes a smooth transition over the
capstones and down the wall. Behind the curved wall is a 210 foot, 20
foot wide reflecting water basin that runs along the walkways toward
the stadium. While this basin appears to be fed by the water wall, it is
a separate basin. Due to the fact that these walls are both set at a
angle, are curved. set on a 5% cant and the grade slopes downward
requires that each of the panels are a different size. There are about
50 panels, each one required a separate form and all are set in
sequence.
Over all the construction methodology in building the Cowboys
stadium was pretty much straight forward. As in many of these
commercial projects, the biggest challenge is almost always dealing
with the logistics of the project rather than the constructibility.
Cowboys, being our most recent project, will always remain one of the
projects that we are most proud of.
